You know, we do have good shows at Velvet Lounge from time to time… it’s not all “Atlas District” yet…

I agree that The Velvet Lounge has good shows. However, I’ve found the website to be inaccurate quite often and there are never any links to the bands. Those two things make it difficult to include shows, because preparing the calendar is a tedious process to begin with. That said, I do have Velvet Lounge shows on the calendar and really enjoy the venue. Fix the webpage and add links to the bands and I’ll include a lot more.

I always look forward to this calendar…it’s great!
Brian…you can go to tickets.com and buy tickets there right now for the NP/Okkervil shows. It’s the “soft sale” trick that 9:30 uses before they announce shows on their site.

Just a heads up guys, velvet Lounge recently gave their web site a face lift. Lots of band links now.

Thanks for including Margot on your show calendar, here is some more information for people interested.
Ready to astonish fans and gain some new ones, Indiana-based indie rockers Margot and The Nuclear So and So’s are touring this summer. The band will release not one, but two full-length albums this fall, one of which is entitled Animal!, composed of songs the band wants to release. The second, called Not Animal , is a collection of songs which their label prefers. One thing is for certain; their blend of orchestral indie pop is sure to please any fan of the genre. Be sure to catch this oddly named but highly talented band for yourself on August 13 at 9:30 Club.

I’m a DC transplant living in Austin, Texas and I stumbled across your blog by sheer magic, and got a chuckle that the now defunct Alphabetical Order gets a mention on your list of bands. They used to be my backup band when I was doing shows at the Velvet Lounge and DC9 a couple of years ago. Anyway, I felt that I should alert you of a brilliant show at the Velvet Lounge on Sunday June 14th. The band is called Silver Pines and they’re one of America’s best kept secrets. Austin loves them and so will everywhere else. Fans of Mazzy Star will be stoked.
